  • El treball mostra que el que anomenem datiu no és una noció primitiva de la gramàtica, sinó una mol·lècula o aliatge que combina en una sola unitat composta dos elements més bàsics: la noció d'acusatiu (que expressa la noció d'objecte) i la de locatiu (que expressa la noció de lloc). Aquesta anàlisi no només ofereix una resposta unificada a un conjunt de trencaclosques tradicionals del català, sinó que permet als autors concloure que l'estructura subjacent del clític datiu revela un concepte gramatical humà veritablement únic.
