  • José Emilio Pacheco nació en Ciudad de México, en 1939. Profesor universitario, ensayista, novelista, traductor, es -sobre todo- uno de los grandes poetas de la lengua. Algunos de sus títulos decisivos son Los elementos de la noche (1966), No me preguntes cómo pasa el tiempo (1969), Islas a la deriva (1976), Desde entonces (1980), Los trabajos del mar (1983), Ciudad de la memoria (1989), La arena errante (1999) y Siglo pasado (2000). La editorial Visor ha publicado una antología de su obra, En resumidas cuentas (2004), y próximamente aparecerá en esta misma colección un nuevo libro titulado Como la lluvia. Ha recibido, entre otros, el Premio Octavio Paz (2003), el Premio Pablo Neruda (2004), el Premio Ciudad de Granada Federico García Lorca (2005) y el Premio Reina Sofía de Poesía Iberoamericana (2009).
