  • Este libro indaga en la "brecha digital" que supone la desigualdad enle acceso a Internet, motivada principalmente por factores socioeconómicos. Esa primera brecha se expande ahora hacia la denominada "segunda brecha digital", cuya existencia responde a criterios relativos a la condición de género. La autora del texto aporta un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo basado en los hábitos informáticos de los universitarios. El análisis cuantitativo refleja que los hombres suelen emplear los servicios tecnológicos de Internet con mayor asiduidad que las mujeres. Por su parte, el análisis cualitativo muestra que ciertos usos específicos -el chat, Messenger o el correo electrónico- no responden a dinámicas de género predeterminadas ni a pautas históricas establecidas.
