  • El 7 de mayo de 1959, Sir Charles Percy Snow (más tarde, Lord Snow), científico y novelista, pronunció la conferencia anual más prestigiosa de la Universidad de Cambridge, la “Red Lecture”. Ese año el título de la charla era “Las dos culturas y la revolución científica”, y sirvió para asentar definitivamente el término “las dos culturas”. El texto de la Conferencia Red se convirtió en libro ( The two cultures, C. P. Snow, Cambridge University Press, 1959); ese libro abrió una larga polémica, y ahora el Consello da Cultura Galega celebra el 50 aniversario de la charla inicial con una serie de coloquios-debate y con la traducción al gallego de Las dos culturas.
