  • Rainer Werner Fassbinder vivió y rodó rápido. Para Jean-Luc Godard, uno de los cineastas que más admiraba el director de La ley del más fuerte, Fassbinder hizo él solo lo esencial del Nuevo Cine Alemán. Quizá sea exagerado, porque Wim Wenders o Werner Herzog también contribuyeron de forma importante a la creación de una innovadora cinematografía alemana en los años setenta. Pero la rabia y la contundencia con la que Fassbinder construyó su filmografía no tiene parangón en el cine europeo. Hizo treinta y nueve películas entre 1969 y 1982, más dos cortometrajes previos en 1966. Dirigió también dos series de televisión y una de ellas, Berlin Alexanderplatz, es hoy un referente de la ficción catódica europea.
