  • San Devasahayam Pillai nació en el 1712 en Nattalam, Vilavancode Taluk, en el reino de Travancore (India), como hindú. Se llamaba Neelam o Neelakandan. El 14 de mayo de 1745 fue bautizado por el sacerdote jesuita Giovanni Battista Buttari en la iglesia de la Sagrada Familia de Vadakkankulam. El 23 de febrero de 1749 fue detenido y acusado de practicar y predicar el cristianismo. Durante tres años fue torturado. El 14 de enero de 1752 fue fusilado por orden del rey. Sus restos mortales fueron enterrados delante del altar mayor de la iglesia de San Francisco Javier en Kottar. Allí fue beatificado el 2 de diciembre de 2012 y canonizado en Roma el 15 de mayo de 2022.
