This work provides a novel approach to Iliturgi from the perspective of Conflict Archaeology. The development of an interdisciplinary analysis strategy has made it possible to study a violent episode, contextualised within the framework of the Second Punic War, around the acropolis of the oppidum on Cerro de la Muela (Mengíbar, Jaén). Its comparison with textual documentation suggests that these are part of the preserved remains of the attack led by Scipio Africanus in 206 BC against the oppidum of Iliturgi.
