El presente trabajo es un intento de sistematizar información acerca de la trayectoria del PCE en la provincia de Jaén desde sus orígenes, en los años veinte del siglo pasado, hasta 1986, año de constitución de IU como proyecto estratégico del PCE. Merece la pena aproximarse a este recorrido histórico que, en muchos de sus aspectos, es prácticamente desconocido y a cuyos hechos el autor ha accedido a través del estudio de numerosas y diversas fuentes, tanto escritas como orales. Communists in the Land of the Olive Trees is an attempt to retrieve the collective memory and the path of thousands of men and women embracing Communist ideals in Jaén. These people have inhabited a province which has bravely fought, has resisted and has been severely hit both by landowners and overlords as by the Franco regime and its tools of repression and control. This work examines in a systematic way the trajectory of the Communist Party in the province of Jaén from its inception in the 1920s until 1986, when the United Left (IU) was created to become the strategic project of the Spanish Communist Party (PCE). This historical journey is worth the effort, as it is practically unknown and has only been explored by the author through his access to many different sources, both written and oral.
