  • Los vestigios arqueológicos de Rirha, datados como muy pronto del siglo IX d. C., atestiguan la existencia de un asentamiento islámico contemporáneo al menos del reinado de Idris II (791-829 de la era cristiana), que tiene vínculos con los Omeyas de al-Andalus. Su periodo cumbre se encuentra sin embargo en la época meriní (1244-1472). Rirha puede así considerarse un caso adicional de asentamiento que participa en el «renacimiento» de la ciudad en la alta Edad Media.
