  • El monstruo es un cuerpo cultural, aberrante, que sintetiza categorías naturales irreconciliables por estar más allá de las normas, amenazante pero atractivo al mismo tiempo. El monstruo cinematográfico ha sido, principalmente, masculino. Pero desde el cambio de siglo son, en su mayoría, monstruos femeninos los que nos atemorizan desde las pantallas. ¿A qué se debe este fenómeno? ¿Cómo son estas “monstruas”? Este ensayo acomete su investigación mediante el análisis textual, al que suma diferentes perspectivas como los estudios del cuerpo y la fenomenología feminista. Las monstruas representadas en el audiovisual actual de terror -excesivas, indisciplinadas, incorrectas- negocian la tensión que existe entre el cuerpo, el poder y la feminidad; un poder que, frente a otras épocas, no se basa en la seducción ni en su atractivo sexual, sino en la violencia.
