  • De sus 45 Homilías, todas ellas de valor incalculable, se recogen en esta obra las tres que conciernen al ciclo de la Natividad, es decir: la nº 38 Sobre la Navidad, la nº 39, Sobre la Epifanía y la nº 40 Sobre el Bautismo del Señor. Las tres fueron pronunciadas entre el 379 y el 381. Se trata de unas Homilías de gran profundidad teológica y pastoral, que dejan entrever esa fe y doctrina ""con las cuales -según Rufino- no puede dejar de concordar todo aquel que quiera definirse ortodoxo"", y que han merecido con toda justicia a su Autor el título de ""Teólogo"" y la autoridad manifiesta e indiscutible de la que siempre ha gozado, aún mucho más allá de las fronteras de la Iglesia griega.
