  • La dama del alba - la muerte, en forma de bella peregrina - fue estrenada en el teatro Avendida, de Buenos Aires, el 3 de noviembre de 1944, por la compañía de Margarita Xirgu. En España el grupo aficionado La Máscara hizo la primera representación, y en 1962 fue montada profesionalmente por la compañía Lope de Vega, de José Tamayo. El propio autor calificó esta obra como un retablo en cuatro actos dedicado a su tierra natal, Asturias, donde está ambientada.
