CÉSAR SIMÓN (Valencia, 1932 - 1997) comenzó a publicar tarde. Su primer libro de poemas, PEDREGAL (1971), aparece cuando ya la generación llamada los Novísimos, posterior a la suya, se había dado a conocer. Luego fueron apareciendo EROSIÓN (1971), ESTUPOR FINAL (1977), PRECISIÓN DE UNA SOMBRA (1983), QUINCE FRAGMENTOS SOBRE UN ÚNICO TEMA: EL TEMA ÚNICO (1985), y EXTRAVÍO (1991). Ha ofrecido también dos novelas: ENTRE UN ABURRIMIENTO Y UN AMOR CLANDESTINO (1979) y LA VIDA SECRETA (publicado en esta misma colección, 1994);dos diarios, SICILIANA (1989) y PERROS AHORCADOS (Pre-Textos/ Narrativa, 1997) y un ensayo sobre Juan Gil-Albert: JUAN GIL-ALBERT: DE SU VIDA Y SU OBRA (1984). En 1971 se le concedió el premio Ausiàs March de poesía y en 1996 obtuvo el premio Loewe por su libro de poemas TEMPLO SIN DIOSES. Días antes de morir apareció su último poemario EL JARDÍN.
