  • La himnografía de los antiguos sumerios fue la primera manifestación literaria de la Historia centrada en ensalzar a la práctica totalidad de los dioses, a determinados templos e incluso a algunos reyes de reconocido prestigio. De todos los himnos sumerios llegados a nuestros días, el dedicado a celebrar la construcción del fabuloso templo Eninnu es, sin duda, el más importante y de alguna manera el clímax de la larga tradición de la vieja literatura sumeria. Fue redactado hacia el año 2140 a. C. a instancias de Gudea de Lagash, tal vez el gobernante más piadoso de toda Mesopotamia. El texto original se acompaña de traducción, comentario y notas.
