Es patente el ánimo juvenil con el que se propone molestar a los fariseos y filisteos de su tiempo. Los del nuestro se sentirán también zaheridos por estas opiniones barojianas, por sus gustos literarios, por su antipatía hacia los políticos, porque en fin Baroja, como el Cid, después de muerto sigue ganando batallas, sigue siendo proteico.
