  • Don Íñigo López de Mendoza, Marqués de Santillana (1398-1458) combinó perfectamente las actividades políticas con las literarias, intuyendo el ideal del hombre equilibrado y completo del Renacimiento. Conocedor de la literatura italiana, intentó escribir a imitación de la métrica de Petrarca, pero su oído, hecho al octosílabo y al verso de arte mayor, no percibió los delicados matices del verso italiano de once sílabas. Célebres son sus serranillas, de verso corto y ligero, a imitación de las pastorelas provenzales. Esta edición completa la que ya tenemos del mismo autor: "Comedieta de Ponça. Sonetos".
