  • Carl Theodor Dreyer (1889-1968), famoso director de cine de origen danés, comenzó su carrera profesional como crítico teatral y periodista. Estrenó su primera película en 1919 ("El presidente"). En España es más conocido por "La pasión de Juana de Arco" y, sobre todo, por la muy alabada "La palabra" (Ordet). Este volumen procura salir al paso de la tópica imagen, siempre repetida, en la que ha cristalizado su figura y su obra: la de alguien básicamente religioso y trascendental, en vez de la de un minucioso cineasta muy preocupado por reflejar los problemas de individuo concreto.
