  • A finales del siglo XIX se encontró en una tumba de Akhmîm, en el Alto Egipto, un fragmento inédito de la pasión de Jesús que circuló durante el siglo II. Los especialistas lo identificaron muy pronto con el Evangelio de Pedro. Desde su descubrimiento, aquel texto ha despertando gran interés y está sirviendo para conocer mejor los orígenes cristianos. A pesar de los numerosos estudios, comentarios y ediciones en distintas lenguas que han visto la luz en los últimos cien años, faltaba en el ámbito hispano una versión crítica del Evangelio de Pedro.
