És a partir d’aquesta premissa que Heinrich Schlier articula la següent hipòtesi: els esdeveniments històrics de salvació testimoniats per l’Escriptura reclamen per a si mateixos una singularitat del tot inabastable per als mètodes crítics purament «historiogràfics». Així mateix, en aquest assaig, Schlier conclou amb contundència, sense menystenir en absolut els procediments de l’aproximació científica, que l’evidència i la unitat dels relats neotestamentaris sobre la resurrecció de Jesucrist no poden -i encara menys en nom de criteris purament historiogràfics positius- prescindir de la lectura teològica singular provocada per uns fets singulars que en realitat precediren els textos i els van constituir.
