  • El otoño medieval fue pródigo en producciones literarias sobre el final de la existencia humana. Entre ellas destacan las "Coplas a la muerte de su padre" con las que Jorge Manrique despedía en 1476 a su progenitor, Rodrigo Manrique, fallecido a los setenta años. Según Luis Alberto de Cuenca, responsable de esta edición, se trata de «la composición poética más bella de las letras hispánicas», un tratado sobre la buena muerte que, en palabras de Azorín, «nos sobrecoge un momento y nos hace pensar». Pedro Arjona ilustra magistralmente estos versos funerales que ascienden a la consideración del dolor humano en toda su amplitud y trascendencia.
