  • El término cimarrón fue usado en la América colonial para nombrar a los esclavos que escapaban de su cautiverio. Esclavos africanos fugitivos que llevaban una vida de libertad, en rincones apartados y que consiguieron establecer sus propias comunidades, o se unieron a los pueblos indígenas forjando nuevas identidades. "Cimarrón" incluye una serie de retratos fotográficos de los descendientes de aquellas personas, ataviados con máscaras y atuendos que mantienen viva la historia y la memoria de sus ancestros, dando testimonio de esas tradiciones.Las fotografías se complementan con textos de antropólogos especialistas para ofrecer un contexto etnográfico e histórico que el poder de la globalización está amenazando.
