  • La revista The New Yorker ha usado vinetas auxiliares desde 1925 para cuadrar las columnas de texto. La composicion digital elimino la necesidad de rellenar espacios, y estos dibujos cobraron mayor valor por derecho propio. Richard McGuire fue el primero, en febrero de 2005, en concebir dichas vinetas como secuencias narrativas: imagenes enganosamente simples que, intercaladas a lo largo de las paginas de la revista, contaban una historia. / The New Yorker has used spot illustrations since 1925 to fill gaps in pages. Digital composition removed the need for spot illustrations so they became content in their own right. McGuire was the first to give them narrative structure: deceptively simple images that told a story spread through the magazine.
