  • Stevenson empezó a escribir La Isla del Tesoro en unas vacaciones estivales al norte de Escocia, en 1881, a petición de un jovencito de 13 años llamado Lloyd Osborne. Es bien conocido que escribió la novela al tiempo que la ideaba en su cabeza, casi como si de un juego se tratara y a partir de un mapa imaginario que él mismo dibujó de la isla y a la que fue añadiendo los más diversos paisajes: montes, cabos, bahías, acantilados... A la tarea de confeccionar esta novela tan itinerante, pronto se unieron los padres, además de otros familiares y amigos: la novela se había convertido en el pasatiempo familiar de las vacaciones.
